White Cup Cake
One and a half cups of sugar, half a cup of butter, half a cup of sweet milk, whites of four eggs, one cup of corn starch, one cup of flour, half a teaspoonful of soda, one of cream tartar, one teaspoonful of extract of lemon.

Reliable Frosting Francis
2 ½ cups of sugar
½ cup of ? syrup (I think it is corn syrup)
½ cups of water
Whites of 2 eggs
1 ½ teaspoon of vanilla
Cook together the sugar, syrup and water, to a soft boil stage or until the thermometer registers 238-degree F. Leave the sauce pan over the burner after the burner has been turned out. Seat egg whites quickly until stiff. Pour hot syrup slowly over the beaten whites, beating constantly. Add vanilla and continue beating until the mixture is almost cold and will hold its shape when spread on the cake.
