Small Sugar Cakes                                              Bessie

1 lb. white sugar

2 eggs

1 cup sour milk

½ cup lard

Flour enough to stiffen, about 3 cups

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon soda and pinch of cream tartar

Drop by spoonful. 

Sugar Cookies                                                      Mrs. A.S. Moyer

2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup lard and butter or Crisco

½ cup sweet milk.  Flavor to taste vanilla or any other

2 eggs (not beaten)

1 teaspoon of cream – tartar

1 teaspoon of baking soda

1 teaspoon of baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

3 ½ cups flour

Better to work with if real cold.
