Freda’s Pie Crust
1 cup flour. Sift
4 level tablespoon lard
½ teasp. Salt
Mix with a fork.
4 tablespoon of cold water
Enough for 1 pie; double crust

3 cups sugar
5 eggs
1 cup butter
1 cup sour milk
1 small teaspoon soda
4 cups flour

Avondale Pennsylvania 1912
April 14th 1912
Montgomery Pie Mrs. Laney
1 cup table syrup
1 cup cold water
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 lemon
3 tablespoons flour mixed like gravy and stirred in last.
Top Part
2 cups sugar, ½ cup butter, 1 cup milk, 2 ½ cups flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 egg.
(3 pies)

Also pie pastry
Pastry (good)
2 cups of pastry flour
1 teaspoon salt (scant)
1 teaspoon baking powder
2/3 cup shortening.
Cold water to make a stiff dough, about ½ cup.
