Queen of all Puddings
4 slices bread, crust removed, buttered and spread with jelly or jam
1 qt. milk
3 eggs
1-3 cup sugar (this is a lot of sugar, I kind of think it is suppose to be 1/3 cup)
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla or flavoring of choice
Spread the bread with butter and then with jelly or jam and place in buttered bake dish. Mix milk, eggs, sugar, salt and flavoring and pour over the bread; place in moderate oven and bake 30 to 35 minutes, being careful not to bake too long or the custard will be watery.
