Squash Pie

1 egg, 2/3 cup of sugar, 2/3 cup of squash, ½ tsp. salt, ¼ tsp. ginger and cinnamon, 2 tbl. Of flour not level more rounded, 2 cups of milk and as much more as necessary for plate size, probably ½ to 1 cup more. Small piece of melted butter. Mix sugar, flour, and spice well; add to squash, mix well, add beaten egg and vanilla, mix well then add 2 cups of milk. Pour half or more into the shell in oven then add as much more milk as seems necessary in the rest of mixture and pour into a shell. Can add melted butter to mixture or pour over top.
Soft Gingerbread

1 beaten egg, ½ cup of sugar, ½ cup of shortening, 1 cup molasses, 1 tsp. vanilla, 2 cups sifted flour with ½ tsp. cinnamon and ginger. Mix well then add 1 cup of hot water with rounding tsp. of soda. Mix in order given.
Can use 2/3 cup of sugar and 2/3 cup of molasses if wish.
