May 5 – 1943

Canning – Chili Sauce              

15 ripe tomatoes                                 2 ½ tsp. salt

8 apples                                                 1 tsp. cinnamon

5 medium onions                                ½ tsp. cloves

2 c. sugar                                              ½ tsp. dry mustard

1 pt. vinegar                                        ¼ tsp. black pepper

1 green pepper (or more)                 2 tsp. celery seed

Grind onions & pepper.  Cook apples & sugar together first and add to all other ingredients.  Cook until thick.
