Dough Cake
2 cups dough 2 tsps. Spices {1 tsp. cloves
½ cup shortening {1 tsp. cinnamon
2 cups sugar 2 cups flour
2 eggs ½ cup sour milk
1 tsp. soda (dissolved in warm water)
Stir up in the usual manner, but add the soda last. Bake in a slow oven.

Corn Oysters
1 cup corn 1 egg
¼ cup flour salt & pepper
Cut raw corn from the cob to which add the egg well beaten. Mix flour and seasoning with this. Drop by the spoonful in deep fat, or cook in hot well greased griddle. They should be made about the size of large oysters. Make two dozen oysters.
