Holiday Treats #18
New Berlin Ohio in the early 1900’s
Cinnamon Stars
4 whites egg beaten hard
2 cups sugar beaten again
1 lemon rind
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 lb. ground almond
Chocolate Cookies
3 whites beaten stiff
1 c. sugar
½ lb. ground almonds
1 bar sweet chocolate
1 tsp. vanilla

Butter Cookies
½ lb. butter
¼ cup brown sugar
½ cup white sugar
1 egg yolk 1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour a little at a time. Mix well form little balls, lay on buttered & floured tins, press lightly with fork, first one way, then another.

Delicious Sugar Cookies
½ c. butter
½ c. pow. Sugar
1 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
Roll out thin.

Topping
1 beaten white
½ c. sugar
½ c. grated nuts
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
Pinch salt
Almond Xmas Cutups
½ cup butter 1 ¾ cups cake flour
1 cup brown sugar 1 tsp. baking powder
1 beaten egg ¼ tsp. salt
½ tsp. vanilla ½ cup almonds (cut)
Cream butter to soften; then cream brown sugar, butter. Add egg, vanilla; mix well. Sift flour, baking powder, salt; blend with creamed mixture. Stir in almonds. Chill. Roll out very thin & cut with cooky cutters into a variety of designs. Bake in oven 350degrees 8 to 10 min. Makes 5 doz.
