Pickle for Eggs

20 quarts of water, 1 oz. of salt-peter, 1 lb. of salt, 6 tablespoonsful of quick lime.  Boil the water, saltpeter and salt 20 minutes, and pour that hot upon the quick lime.  The next day put in the eggs.  Keep the jar covered in a cool place.  The eggs will keep for years.

German Recipe                                        M.H.

This is NOT a recipe you will want to try!  I put it here just for educational purposes!  Quick-lime and salt-peter are not anything you will want to use in this day and age, without special training.  They are poison and Dangerous!
