Preparations for Ice Cream Social
This forenoon preparations are being made for the Ice Cream Social to be held this evening at Otto K Olson’s. Millie baked a Burnt Sugar Cake and I made a Chocolate Cake, which is not guaranteed to look red after it is done. Jo has a horror of baking cake so she politely got out of the mess of baking any (?) – I refer to successful cake baking. Ma is canning June berry sauce and has as her able assistant, her third eldest daughter, Josephine, who has such a strong grip that when she screws on the covers on the sauce jars one can hear the covers crack.
