DAILY RECIPES BY CALENDAR
As an ongoing feature here, I will add to this each day the recipes out of several books I have that are dated or from calendar books
A small leather covered calendar book from Burlington Vermont dated 1875. It has all kinds of lovely handwritten dessert recipes; the front of the book has an overview of each month and a predictive weather chart, the difference of tie between Boston and New York, the value of gold and silver at the time and other interesting things like rates of postage.
The list of names for the people who contributed recipes for these books are listed here;

Morrison Illionois 1910 through 1930’s
Pineapple Cake
Cream Together
1 cup sugar
½ cup butter
Add 2 well beaten eggs
½ cup milk then srit in
2 cups flour sifted several times with 1 teaspoon B.P.
Bake in layers
Filling
Boil
2 cups sugar with
2/3 cups cream for ten minutes, take from fire & heat until smooth & thick.
To 1/3 third of this add 1 cup grated pineapple & spread between layers then add enough pineapple juice to make it spread smoothly over top & sides then mix in 1/3 cup grated pineapple to make the frosting rough with it. If you wish to make it real fancy before the frosting hardens take a slice of pineapple drain & dry good, cut into star shape or pedals press in center of cake & put a candied cherrie in center.
