Holiday Baking #28
Cambridge Minnesota 1930’s
And now, just to prove than (that?) a man may know how to cook, let me suggest this by way of variety.
Sour Cream Raisin Pie
1 cup raisins
1 cup sugar
1 cup sour cream
2 eggs
1 tablespoonful vinegar
1 teaspoonful cinnamon
½ teaspoonful cloves
1/3 teaspoonful salt
Wash and cream the raisins. Mix it all together and bake in a double crust for thirty minutes.
(Remember this recipe is from the 30’s; so, take the commentary about men cooking with that grain of salt.)

Fruit Cake
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter with a little lard
1 egg
1 cup of molasses
1 cup milk
1 cup currants
1 cup raisins or prunes
1 teaspoon soda
2 teaspoons mixed spices
3 cups of flour
