Thanksgiving mincemeat pie and crust (newspaper articles). This article says it could have come from the Custis family which is the same family name that Mrs. Martha Washington, wife of General George Washington, got several of her famous recipes. (Martha was the Widow of a Custis, before she married George) Including the amazing fruit cake of hers that starts out with “Take 40 eggs……”

Thanksgiving Cookies 1930’s
Four eggs – well beaten, 2 cups sugar, 1 cup butter. Cream all together. Flavor with lemon. 4 cups flour, 2 heaping teaspoons Royal Baking Powder.
Fruit Cookies
One-half pint brown sugar, 1 pint lard, ½ pint molasses, 1 cup sour milk, 1 heaping tablespoon soda, 2 heaping tablespoons cinnamon, 1 heaping tablespoon cloves and allspice, 1 pint currants, 1 pint chopped raisins, 1 pint nut meats. Flour to make a stiff dough. L.W.
