The Royal Jubilee for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the 2nd is being celebrated with a Pudding contest sponsored by Mary Berry; and they will be airing the special on television on May 12th.
have this wonderful old handwritten recipe book from Debenham, that has this Jubilee Pudding recipe from Queen Victoria’s time. I thought it would be fun to publish this to help celebrate the 70th year of Queen Elizabeth’s reign.

Queen Elizabeth the II, in the year 2022 is celebrating her 70th anniversary of ascending the Throne of England; Her Jubilee. In this cookbook we have a recipe for Plum Pudding 1889; celebrating Queen Victoria’s Jubilee. The actual date was in February, but I figured this whole year counts as her 70th year, so I am adding this now.
I think this recipe is for a party or other form of holiday to celebrate as it starts with 10 pounds of flour!
Plum Pudding Jubilee 1889
10lbs. flour, 4 lbs. breadcrumbs, 4 lbs. suet, 6 lbs. raisons, 6 lbs. currants, 6 lbs. brown sugar, 4 nutmegs, 12 eggs, 4 quarts of milk, 1 ½ lbs. lemon peel. Boil 4 or 5 hours, the quantity will make the plum puddings, sufficient for 50 people.
